Mostly people that I work with are 18, and that the first time they
are leaving foster placements. My primary task with the young people
that I work with is helping them to set up a home, helping them to
be able to budget properly, that type of thing. You definitely need
to bring some of your life experience with you to this job. Qualifications,
they are important but they are not the be all and the end all. When
you come in to a job like this, and you see the people and the
difference it makes to their lives i.e. they're actually grateful, and you
can see the emotion on their face and then you know it was important
for me to come along today.
