Getting Started Training Opportunities
|
You need no formal qualifications before you start, but as you work, there will be the opportunity to develop skills through on-the-job training and learning courses. Many of these are work-based such as NVQs or involve day release to attend local colleges. Alternatively, you could choose to take a full time course at college before seeking work. Financial help may be available depending on the type of course you choose to study and your individual circumstances. All social care workers are subject to checks with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) before starting work - click here for further details. Some full time courses will also require you to undergo a CRB check before enrolling Please select one of the main training programmes below:

Induction TrainingThis provides the basic knowledge and skills to help you settle into your new role and ensure you will be 'fit to practise'. The induction training takes place in the first twelve weeks of your new job (24 weeks if you are working in child care), using national standards adapted to where you work. This training will ensure that you know how to do your job properly and safely. Your manager will lead most of the training, but external trainers may come in as well to cover some specialist areas. Induction training gives you professional recognition and you may then work towards the relevant National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). |
