Paul - Residential worker

Paul, was a panel beater and sprayer when he started as a volunteer in a children’s residential assessment centre.

"I was in my 40s with a family to support, so I needed to find out what the work involved before committing myself. I did two evenings a week after work for 18 months and then applied for a care job. I had reached the point at work where every day was predictable. Now every day is different, the job is emotionally engaging, and I’ve learned a lot about myself. It’s not always easy but I like working with young people. I have no regrets about moving in a new direction."
